Prinivil Warnings
If you take medication or insulin to treat diabetes, track your blood sugar carefully while also taking Prinivil, particularly during the first month of its use.
The combination of these diabetes drugs can cause a drop in your blood sugar levels.
It's also important to be aware of any signs of infection, such as sore throat or fever, which could indicate problems with your white blood cell count.
Before starting on Prinivil, be sure to let your doctor know if you have any type of surgery planned, including dental surgery.
Tell your doctor if you have angioedema, a condition that causes trouble swallowing or breathing as well as painful swelling in various parts of the body, including the face, throat, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, and lower legs.
You should also let your doctor know if you have diabetes and are taking aliskiren (Tekturna, Amturnide, Tekamlo, Tekturna HCT).
Your doctor also needs to know if you've ever had:
- Heart or kidney disease
- Lupus
- Scleroderma
Pregnancy and Prinivil
There's strong evidence that Prinivil can harm an unborn baby.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant, or may become pregnant, before taking Prinivil.
If you get pregnant while taking Prinivil, call your doctor right away.
It's unknown whether the drug passes into a woman's breast milk, but to be safe, women who are breastfeeding should stop breastfeeding (or not take Prinivil).
